Structural Checker

Job Summary:

The Checker is responsible for reviewing and verifying structural steel fabrication drawings, erection drawings, and bill of materials (BOMs) related to pre-engineered buildings. They ensure that all outputs conform to design intent, client specifications, applicable codes, and internal standards, helping to minimize errors and rework.

Key Responsibilities:

Drawing Review & Validation:

• Check and verify fabrication drawings, general arrangement (GA) drawings, and erection drawings for completeness and accuracy.
• Ensure proper dimensioning, detailing, and alignment with design calculations and architectural drawings.

Quality Control:

• Validate that all components (e.g., rafters, columns, purlins, girts) are properly labeled, connected, and match the BOM.
• Cross-check member sizes, weld symbols, and material specifications.

Code Compliance:

• Ensure adherence to relevant standards such as AISC, IS codes, MBMA, or customer-specific requirements.

Coordination:

• Collaborate with design engineers, modelers, and drafters to resolve issues or inconsistencies.
• Provide feedback to drafting teams to improve quality and efficiency.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain records of all checked drawings and generate quality reports.
• Track revisions and ensure proper documentation of changes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Diploma / Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–7 years of experience in the PEB industry (checker or senior drafter level).
• Strong knowledge of PEB components and steel structures.
• Proficiency in reading fabrication and erection drawings.
• Familiarity with detailing software like AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, or SDS/2.
• Attention to detail and high standards for accuracy.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
