Job Summary

Reporting to the Engineering Manager:

Working within a team of other engineers, the Pressure Vessel Design Engineer is responsible for covering all elements of engineering for the business, including, but not necessarily limited to, design and production of engineering drawings (e.g. General Arrangements, fabrications), design calculations, and QAD ERP system entries.


The Pressure Vessel Design Engineer will work towards successful project execution, in a manner that fulfils contractual and technical requirements, meets or exceeds customer expectations, and adheres to safety and ethical standards while achieving Cleanova target margins and promoting Cleanova’s reputation in the marketplace.


Principle Duties and Responsibilities

 Carry out engineering workload to meet order date requirements.

 Maintain hours against estimate.

 Construction of drawings using the departmental “Computer Aided Design” system.

 Carry out pressure vessel strength calculations, as required.

 Checking of drawings and calculations, as required.

 Create parts and enter Bills of Material into QAD ERP system, in line with company requirements and guidelines.

 Carry out engineering activities in accordance with both designated external and company-based standards and include any special customer requirements.

 Carry out engineering activities to support product continuity.

 Maintain engineering records and product documentation.

 Support the Cleanova commercial team through the production of sales sketches.

 Carry out design work in accordance with customer specifications and, in addition, satisfy the commercial requirements of the company.

 Respond to requests for assistance when manufacturing difficulties occur and provide necessary advice to enable problems to be resolved.

 Engaging directly with both customers and fabricators to progress jobs and design solutions, in a manner which promotes Cleanova’s reputation.

Education and Experience

Required Education / Experience:

• Typically requires a higher education degree in Mechanical Engineering

• 8 - 10 years of Pressure Vessel design experience

• 8 - 10 years of 2D and 3D software package drafting/modelling experience 

• Experience and understanding of pressure vessel codes ASME VIII Div1 & 2, PD5500, PED and PE(S)R

• Structural engineering calculations, with primary focus being on pressure vessels

• Good knowledge of MS Windows and Microsoft Office


Desired Experience:

• Pressure Vessel design calculation software PV Elite / Code Calc

• Finite Element Analysis, using ANSYS Mechanical, for more complex structures which cannot be designed by equation

• Drawing configuration management in Autodesk Vault

• Experience and understanding of pressure vessel codes EN13445 and ASME B31.3

• Experience in the use of QAD ERP system

• Required occasionally to lift and/or move objects that are light to moderate 

• Required regularly to travel (usually by air or road so may be required to sit for extended periods)
