Job Summary:


MEP Design and Planning Engineer


Key Responsibilities:


1. MEP System Design and Coordination


  • Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and consultants to align MEP designs with project goals.
  • Develop integrated HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection system layouts.
  • Perform system sizing calculations (load, water demand, power supply, etc.).
  • Allocate space for risers, plant rooms, and service routes.
  • Select appropriate equipment for energy-efficient and cost-effective solutions.
  • Resolve coordination issues across disciplines to avoid clashes.


2. Technical Documentation and Drawing Preparation


  • Prepare detailed BOQs and technical specifications.
  • Document all design iterations, updates, and approvals.


3. Code Compliance and Standards


  • Ensure MEP systems comply with local and international codes (e.g., NBC, IS codes, ASHRAE, IEC, NFPA).
  • Stay up-to-date with evolving regulations and best practices.


4. Project Planning and Support


  • Assist in developing design schedules in sync with project timelines.
  • Provide technical support during construction phases, respond to RFIs, and attend coordination meetings when required.
  • Monitor design deliverables to meet deadlines and quality benchmarks.


Requirements:


  • Diploma/Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in MEP design and planning.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; familiarity with HAP or similar design tools.
  • Strong understanding of ISHRAE, NBC, and other relevant codes.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and project management skills.
