About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join our dynamic legal team in India. This role is crucial for supporting the legal needs of our India operations, including commercial contract management, corporate governance, privacy compliance, and employment law. The successful candidate will also collaborate with our global legal teams to ensure legal alignment across geographies and contribute to legal support for our U.S. operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor, customer, and service-level contracts.
  • Provide legal advice on corporate governance matters, ensuring compliance with Indian corporate laws and regulations.
  • Support privacy and data protection initiatives, including compliance with India’s DPDP Act and international frameworks such as GDPR.
  • Advise HR and management on employment law issues including internal policies, employment contracts, termination matters, and dispute resolution.
  • Liaise with global legal counterparts to harmonize local practices with US and European legal standards.
  • Offer legal assistance for U.S.-based operations, including contract reviews, compliance-related matters, and business alignment with U.S. legal teams.
  • Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations and proactively mitigate legal risks.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or equivalent from a recognized Indian university.
  • Minimum 5 years of post-qualification legal experience in a law firm or in-house legal department, preferably in a technology or multinational environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Indian contract and corporate law
    • Privacy and data protection regulations (DPDP Act, GDPR, etc.)
    • Indian labor and employment laws
  • Exposure to US and/or European legal systems is a strong advantage.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and global stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
