Design Engineer

Job Title: Design Engineer Location: Chakan Department: Engineering / Design Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Design Engineer with a strong background in the fabrication industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating detailed engineering drawings, developing 3D models, and working closely with production teams to ensure manufacturability and quality. This role demands strong technical proficiency, hands-on fabrication knowledge, and a problem-solving mindset. Key Responsibilities: Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models for fabrication components and assemblies. Interpret customer requirements, technical specifications, and standards to produce accurate designs. Collaborate with the production, quality, and procurement teams to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and manufacturable. Prepare BOMs (Bill of Materials) and fabrication documents for production. Optimize designs for material utilization, manufacturability, and welding/fabrication efficiency. Conduct design validation through simulations, stress analysis, and prototyping where required. Revise drawings based on feedback from shop floor and QC teams. Support product development, prototyping, and R&D initiatives. Required Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. 2-5 years of hands-on experience in design within the fabrication or metalworking industry. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor). Strong knowledge of sheet metal design, welding symbols, GD&T, and fabrication processes. Experience in working with steel structures, frames, and machine enclosures is a plus. Familiarity with industry standards (ASME, AWS, ISO). Good communication and team collaboration skills. Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in ERP systems for BOM and drawing release processes. Working knowledge of FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS) is an advantage. Exposure to lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
