Job Description

Role Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Assistant Librarian to join our team. The Assistant Librarian

will support the library's operations, assist patrons, and contribute to the organization and maintenance

of library resources.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Library Operations :-

  1. Assist in day-to-day functions of the library, including book circulation, cataloging, and shelving.
  2. Maintain and update library records, registers, and book databases.
  3. Manage housekeeping of books, magazines, journals, and publications.
  4. Ensure proper maintenance of the library environment and organization of materials.


  • Library Administration & Coordination:

  1. Handle inter-departmental correspondence and maintain relevant files and documents.
  2. Draft letters, memos, and reports as required by the Section Head.
  3. Collect, compile, and present relevant materials, facts, and data to support administrative decisions.
  4. Assist in inventory management and periodic stock verification.


  • Technical & Digital Competency:

  1. Operate and manage library automation systems effectively.
  2. Perform basic scanning, CD writing, and digital archiving tasks.
  3. Ensure proper digital cataloging and metadata entry for resources.


Qualifications & Skills Required:

• A Master's Degree (Postgraduate) in Library Science/Information Science/Documentation Science or an equivalent professional degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale where grading systems are followed). Passing the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC or a similar test accredited by UGC, like SLET/SET, is desirable.

• Strong organizational and communication skills, proficiency in library management systems, and ability to work with diverse patrons.
