Job Title: Shift In-Charge – Mechanical Maintenance Level: M-8 Department: Mechanical Maintenance – Beneficiation Plant Location: Sagasahi, Odisha Company: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Limited Job Purpose: Ensure optimum plant availability through effective mechanical maintenance practices at the Beneficiation Plant. This includes preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance, spares management, shutdown planning, and ensuring zero equipment failures to maximize production efficiency. Organizational Structure: Head – Mechanical Maintenance          ⬇️ Shift In-Charge – Mechanical Maintenance (You) Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:1. Plant Availability Execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance for all mechanical equipment. Perform periodic health monitoring of critical machinery. Plan and manage shutdowns to minimize downtime. 2. Spares & Maintenance Cost Management Identify critical spares and ensure timely procurement. Implement spare indigenization to reduce costs. Follow SOPs and optimize predictive maintenance schedules. 3. Inventory Management Standardize spare specifications. Optimize vendor selection and inventory based on population ratio and failure rates. Plan spares for critical equipment and periodic replacements to reduce inventory costs. 4. Tailing Disposal & Dam Management Monitor tailing pipelines and tailing dam performance. Manage recovery of clear water from the tailing dam. Ensure continuous monitoring of dam safety and operation. 5. Safety & Compliance Ensure 100% compliance with plant safety norms. Support safety audits and drive a culture of Behavioral-Based Safety (BBS). 6. Performance Management & Development Conduct Annual Performance Reviews (EDR) for the mechanical team. Set performance goals aligned with the business plan. Conduct mid-year reviews and support employee development. Key Challenges: Achieving high machine availability and efficiency while reducing MTTR (Mean Time to Repair) and improving MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures). Managing maintenance activities in a remote location with logistical constraints. Ensuring effective planning and coordination with multiple stakeholders for smooth plant operations. Key Decision Areas: Independent Decisions: Scheduling and executing preventive and breakdown maintenance based on plant priorities. Managing shift manpower allocation and equipment maintenance priorities. Recommendations to Superiors: Strategies for improving equipment health and availability. Proposals for inventory optimization and cost reduction initiatives. Cross-Functional Interactions: Internal: Coordination with Production, E&I (Electrical & Instrumentation) for maintenance and shutdown activities. Liaison with the CSR team for resolving community-related or external issues. External: Coordination with workshops, vendors, and contractors for machining, spare manufacturing, and on-site support. Collaborate with logistics and external agencies for smooth operation of the tailing dam and RMH conveyor maintenance. Financial & Team Dimensions: Financial: Responsible for OPEX, CAPEX, maintenance budgets, and spare parts inventory control. Team Size: As per organizational structure. Required Skills & Knowledge: Educational Qualifications: B.E./B.Tech (Mechanical) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Experience:10 years for graduates or 15 years for diploma holders in Mechanical Maintenance, preferably in Beneficiation Plants or mineral processing units. Functional Skills: In-depth knowledge of: Mechanical maintenance systems. Beneficiation Plant equipment. Slurry pumps, piping systems, and mineral processing machinery. Maintenance management and troubleshooting expertise. Behavioral Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent planning and coordination abilities. Focus on safety practices, especially Behavioral-Based Safety (BBS).
