Job Summary

Senior Indirect Tax Specialist

Goods and Services Tax (GST) in India

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure timely and accurate filing of all GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, GSTR-9C, etc.)
• Manage GST audits, assessments, and litigation with tax authorities
• Provide advisory support on GST implications for business transactions, contracts, and new projects
• Monitor changes in GST laws and ensure compliance with latest regulations
• Reconcile GST data with financial records and ensure accurate input tax credit (ITC) claims
• Coordinate with internal teams (finance, procurement, sales) to ensure GST compliance across functions
• Liaise with external consultants and legal advisors for complex tax matters
• Support automation and process improvement initiatives in indirect tax compliance
• Prepare and present management reports on tax positions, risks, and opportunities
  

Qualifications:

• CA / CMA / LLB / MBA (Finance) or equivalent professional qualification
• Minimum 7 years of experience in indirect taxation, with at least 5 years focused on India GST
• Strong knowledge of GST law, rules, notifications, and circulars
• Experience with GST audits, departmental queries, and litigation
• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and GST compliance tools
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  

Preferred Skills:

• Exposure to international indirect tax regimes (e.g., VAT, customs) is a plus
• Experience in shared services or multinational environments
• Ability to train and mentor junior team members
