Job Description

Job Title: Technical Writer / Technical Documentation Specialist Department: Product Development / Technical Publications / Engineering Reports To: Documentation Manager / Product Manager / Engineering Lead Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer responsible for creating high-quality, customer-centric technical documentation for software and hardware products. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and UX, to produce user guides, help systems, API documentation, and release notes. The role requires an ability to manage multiple documentation projects within an Agile development environment. Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain customer-facing technical documentation including user manuals, online help, API docs, release notes, and installation guides. Gain deep understanding of products, systems, applications, and their functionality in the assigned domain. Translate complex technical concepts into simple, clear, and concise documentation tailored to end-users and developers. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product management, quality assurance, and support teams to gather technical information. Manage multiple documentation projects, handling varying technical requirements, deadlines, and formats. Develop and maintain help systems integrated with software products, potentially involving proprietary code or web-based technologies. Work within an Agile Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), participating in sprint planning, reviews, and backlog grooming. Utilize authoring tools such as DITA, XML, or Topic-based authoring systems to produce modular, reusable content. Follow documentation standards and contribute to the improvement of processes and templates. Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Computer Science, Information Technology, English, or a related field. 3–7 years of experience in technical writing or technical documentation roles. Proven ability to develop customer-focused technical content for software, hardware, or network products. Hands-on experience with authoring tools such as DITA, XML, MadCap Flare, FrameMaker, or equivalent. Familiarity with HTML, DHTML, XML, JavaScript, or similar technologies is an advantage. Experience working in Agile SDLC and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Knowledge of networking concepts is a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently and proactively solve problems. Preferred Skills: Experience with version control systems like Git. Familiarity with content management systems and topic-based writing methodologies. Exposure to API documentation, SDK guides, or developer-centric content creation.
