Job Description

Job Title: Safety Officer / Project Safety CoordinatorLocation: [Specify Location] Department: Safety / EHS Reports To: Section Head – Safety / HOD Industry: [Specify Industry e.g., Construction, Manufacturing, Engineering, etc.] Purpose – Why Does This Role Exist?To coordinate, support, and advise the project team on all matters related to safety. The role ensures the effective implementation of safety standards, processes, communication, training, and systems to maintain a safe working environment at the project site. Key Result Areas (KRAs) / Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):Advise departments in planning and organizing safety measures, ensuring compliance with SOPs and HIRA. Participate in job studies and detailed safety surveys. Conduct safety audits and inspections in collaboration with the respective departments. Evaluate and monitor effectiveness of preventive actions for personal injury reduction. Ensure implementation and adherence to the HSE plan across the project. Critical Tasks and Responsibilities:Injury Reduction & Incident Control: Implement safety plans as directed by HOD and Section Head. Reduce injury incidents through proactive safety interventions. Training & Awareness: Conduct safety training for contractor employees based on the AMNS INDIA safety standards. Develop and deliver safety education programs in collaboration with the training department. Inspections & Audits: Carry out regular inspections to identify and eliminate unsafe conditions and practices. Conduct contractor prequalification assessments and job safety analysis (JSA) reviews. Compliance & Monitoring: Maintain records of incidents, near-misses, and occupational diseases. Monitor statutory compliance including: Examination of lifting tools & tackles Pressure vessel certification Calibration of gas detectors Passenger lift inspections Engagement & Safety Culture: Act as an advisor in departmental safety committee meetings. Organize campaigns, contests, and initiatives to promote safety culture among employees. Risk Management: Review high and critical risk activities and provide mitigation recommendations. Support implementation of risk assessments and corrective actions. Qualifications & Experience:Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Engineering or Occupational Health & Safety or related field. Certification in Industrial Safety (preferred). 3+ years of experience in a safety role in project-based environments. Strong knowledge of HIRA, JSA, safety audits, and statutory compliance. Key Skills:Proficient in safety management systems and legal safety standards. Good communication and training delivery skills. Strong observation, analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to influence and engage all levels of staff and contractors.
