Position Overview:

The Plant Head will be responsible for overseeing the entire operations of the edible oil manufacturing plant. This includes production, quality control, maintenance, manpower management, and coordination with supply chain and procurement to ensure efficient plant operations, cost control, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operations Management

  • Oversee daily plant operations to ensure smooth and efficient production.
  • Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all production and utility activities.
  • Monitor production targets, analyze variances, and take corrective actions.
  • Ensure optimum utilization of resources (materials, manpower, machines).

2. Production Planning and Control

  • Prepare and execute daily/weekly/monthly production schedules.
  • Coordinate with the supply chain and sales teams for timely order fulfillment.
  • Maintain minimum stock levels for raw materials and finished goods.

3. Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to product quality standards and food safety norms (e.g., FSSAI, ISO, HACCP).
  • Liaise with the QA/QC department to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Promote a culture of quality and hygiene across the plant.

4. Maintenance and Utilities

  • Oversee the preventive and breakdown maintenance of plant machinery and utilities.
  • Coordinate with the engineering team for installation, modification, and automation.

5. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Ensure implementation of safety protocols and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct safety audits and regular training for plant staff.

6. Team Leadership and Training

  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team including production, maintenance, quality, and stores.
  • Mentor and train subordinates to build a strong second-line leadership.
  • Promote teamwork and productivity across departments.

7. Cost Optimization & Efficiency

  • Monitor operational costs and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Improve plant efficiency through lean manufacturing and process improvement tools.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Mechanical / Chemical / Industrial / Food Technology or related discipline.
  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in edible oil manufacturing, preferably as a Plant Head or in a senior plant operations role.
  • Strong knowledge of solvent extraction, oil refining, packaging, and utility systems.
  • Proven track record in production management, team handling, and process optimization.
  • Familiarity with statutory requirements and industry best practices in the edible oil sector.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
