Job Description

Job Title: Credit Manager / Credit Analyst Department: Credit & Risk Reports To: Credit Head / Risk Manager Job Purpose: The Credit Manager is responsible for assessing, underwriting, and monitoring credit proposals within defined policies. The role demands comprehensive risk analysis, customer due diligence, and effective portfolio management to ensure high asset quality and controlled credit costs. Key Duties & Responsibilities:1. Credit Assessment: Appraise and underwrite loan applications in line with credit policy and guidelines. Conduct thorough checking of loan application files, ensuring adherence to documentation and process standards. Assess the applicant’s income, repayment capacity, intention, and credit behaviour through document verification, bureau checks, and reference checks. Understand applicants’ business models, revenue streams, and risk factors associated with their profiles. Evaluate credit risk parameters and suggest risk mitigants wherever necessary. Prepare detailed credit appraisal/approval memos with accurate analysis and recommendations for sanctioning authorities. Ensure achievement of defined Turnaround Time (TAT) and maintain optimum approval rates without compromising portfolio quality. 2. Credit Monitoring: Ensure strict compliance with internal credit policies, processes, and regulatory norms. Maintain portfolio quality by monitoring accounts, identifying early warning signals, and implementing corrective measures. Review exception approvals periodically and conduct reject analysis to derive insights for process improvements. Monitor key portfolio health metrics including delinquencies, NPA, and credit costs to ensure control within defined thresholds. Work closely with collections and business teams to ensure end-to-end credit lifecycle management. Key Skills & Competencies: Strong analytical skills with a sharp eye for financial and non-financial risk indicators. Deep understanding of credit risk assessment, financial statement analysis, and cash flow assessment. Familiarity with credit bureau reports and regulatory compliance norms. High proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel), credit scoring tools, and loan management systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines while maintaining quality. High integrity, ethics, and adherence to compliance. Education: Graduation in Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (mandatory). Postgraduate in Finance, CA, MBA, or equivalent qualification (preferred). Experience:3 to 8 years of experience in credit underwriting, appraisal, or credit risk management in NBFC, Banks, or Financial Institutions.
