Job Description

Job Title: Credit Analyst / Credit Manager Department: Credit & Risk Reports To: Credit Head / Risk Manager Job Purpose: The primary responsibility is to assess, underwrite, and monitor credit proposals within defined guidelines. This role involves evaluating customer profiles, mitigating credit risk, and ensuring the quality of the loan portfolio while adhering to company policies and processes. Key Duties & Responsibilities: Credit Assessment: Appraise and underwrite loan applications within policy guidelines and recommend them to the approving authority. Conduct thorough scrutiny of loan applications based on defined policy/process checklists. Assess the income, repayment ability, intent, and credit behaviour of applicants through document verification, reference checks, and credit bureau analysis. Understand the applicant’s business nature, revenue streams, and associated risks. Evaluate financial and non-financial risk parameters and propose risk mitigation measures where necessary. Prepare detailed credit appraisal memos with sound financial and risk analysis. Manage turnaround time (TAT) effectively while ensuring high-quality decisions. Credit Monitoring: Maintain strict adherence to credit policies, operational processes, and compliance requirements. Ensure ongoing portfolio health by monitoring asset quality and delinquency trends. Conduct regular exception monitoring, rejection analysis, and take corrective measures as required. Proactively manage credit quality and ensure credit costs are controlled within targets. Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, or a related field (Mandatory). MBA/CA/CFA preferred but not mandatory. Experience:3 to 8 years of experience in credit appraisal, underwriting, or risk management, preferably in NBFCs, Banks, or Financial Institutions. Key Skills and Competencies: Strong analytical and financial assessment skills. Sound knowledge of credit appraisal processes for SME, MSME, or retail loans. Proficiency in evaluating bureau reports (CIBIL, Equifax, etc.) and financial documents. Excellent communication, both written and verbal. Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure. Good understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements. Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word) and credit analysis tools. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):Turnaround Time (TAT) adherence for credit approvals. Portfolio quality and delinquency rates. Accuracy in credit decisioning and memos. Compliance with internal and external audit standards.
