Job Description – Robotic Maintenance Engineer
Position Title: Robotic Maintenance Engineer
Department: Maintenance / Automation Engineering
Reports To: Maintenance Manager / Engineering Head
Job Purpose: To ensure the smooth functioning of robotic assembly equipment by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs, along with contributing to process improvements for maximum uptime and efficiency.
Major Roles & Responsibilities:1. Preventive Maintenance Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on robotic assembly equipment.
Ensure equipment runs at optimal performance and extends the life cycle of machinery.
2. Troubleshooting and Repairs Diagnose and repair issues in robotic systems, including PLC troubleshooting and resolving communication issues between different PLC systems.
3. Vision System Maintenance Maintain and troubleshoot vision systems used in the assembly line for quality control to ensure accurate and reliable performance.
4. Drive Systems Maintenance Maintain and troubleshoot Siemens Drives and SEW Drives, ensuring efficient and fault-free operation.
5. Sensing Devices Management Install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot various sensing devices to ensure precision and safety in operations.
6. Electrical Hoists Maintenance Conduct regular maintenance and repairs on electrical hoists to ensure safe material handling and lifting operations.
7. Documentation Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, adjustments, and parts replacements.
8. Safety Compliance Follow and enforce all safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment.
Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards proactively.
9. Spare Parts Management Manage and monitor the inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies.
Ensure availability and timely procurement of critical components.
10. Collaboration Work closely with the production and operations team to schedule maintenance during non-peak hours, minimizing downtime and production impact.
11. Training Train machine operators and junior technicians on proper equipment use and basic troubleshooting procedures.
12. Continuous Improvement Participate in Kaizen, Lean, or TPM initiatives to improve equipment uptime, reduce breakdowns, and enhance operational efficiency.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
Education: Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field.
Experience: 3–8 years in robotic assembly line maintenance or industrial automation.
Technical Skills:
PLC troubleshooting (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, etc.)
Siemens and SEW Drives troubleshooting
Vision system maintenance
Sensor calibration and maintenance
Reading electrical and control diagrams
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Effective communication and teamwork
Ability to handle high-pressure situations with minimal supervision
Work Environment:
Factory floor environment with exposure to automation equipment, robotics, PLC systems, drives, and electrical tools.
Physical presence is required for hands-on tasks.
Reporting:
Daily reporting of maintenance work, issues, and solutions to the Maintenance Manager.
