Job Description

Job Summary

The Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning, calibration, and maintenance of all instruments and automation systems used in the dairy industry. This role involves the installation, inspection, troubleshooting, and optimization of instrumentation equipment to ensure the efficient, safe, and hygienic operation of dairy production processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and Calibration
  • Calibrate and maintain process control instruments such as flow meters, pressure sensors, temperature controllers, pH meters, and conductivity meters.
  • Ensure all equipment adheres to industry standards for hygiene, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Installation and Commissioning
  • Oversee the installation of new instrumentation systems in compliance with industry regulations.
  • Test and commission equipment to ensure proper functionality before use.
  • Troubleshooting and Repairs
  • Diagnose and resolve issues in instrumentation and control systems.
  • Replace or repair defective components to restore system functionality.
  • Automation and Control Systems
  • Program, monitor, and troubleshoot PLCs, SCADA, and HMI systems used in dairy processes.
  • Ensure automation systems are optimized for production efficiency and product quality.
  • Documentation and Compliance
  • Maintain accurate records of calibration, maintenance, and inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO 22000) and industry regulations.
  • Collaboration
  • Work closely with the production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assist in training plant operators and technicians on proper use and maintenance of instruments.

Skills And Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications in PLC/SCADA programming, calibration, or process control are a plus.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in instrumentation, preferably in the dairy or food processing industry.
  • Familiarity with clean-in-place (CIP) systems and aseptic processes is an advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in process control instrumentation and automation systems.
  • Knowledge of dairy-specific machinery such as pasteurizers, homogenizers, evaporators, and spray dryers.
  • Hands-on experience with PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and SCADA systems.
  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., MODBUS, PROFIBUS, Ethernet/IP).
