Firewall & WAF SME

Experience :

5-10+ years in network security, firewall, and WAF Preferred : CCNP Security, PCNSA/PCNSE (Palo Alto), CCSE (Checkpoint), Cisco CCIE Security, F5-101/201 (F5 Certified Technology Specialist LTM, ASM)

Job Summary

We are looking for a Firewall & Web Application Firewall (WAF) SME to manage and secure enterprise network environments along with conducting BAU. The ideal candidate will have expertise in deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting firewalls (Checkpoint, Cisco ASA & FTD, Palo Alto) and WAF (F5 ASM, Big IQ, cloud WAF AKAMAI, Cloudflare). The role includes working with security teams and application owners to enhance network security posture and help troubleshooting issues, improve application protection, and ensure compliance with security policies by addressing audit observations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot firewalls (Checkpoint, Cisco ASA/FTD, Palo Alto) and WAF (F5 ASM/AWAF).
  • Implement firewall rules, access controls, VPNs, NAT policies, and threat prevention mechanisms.
  • Perform security assessments, firewall audits, and fine-tune policies to mitigate risks as per banks ISMS policy.
  • Optimize and monitor Web Application Firewall (F5 ASM), cloud WAF AKAMAI, Cloudflare policies for OWASP Top 10 threats, bot mitigation, and API security.
  • Analyse security logs, investigate security incidents, and collaborate with different teams e. SOC, application, EUS teams.
  • Work with team to streamline BAU on daily tickets raised on firewall, WAF front, ensure tracking and closer as per bank defined SLA.
  • Work on automating mundane tasks to ensure error free config deployment.
  • Stay updated with the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and security technologies.
  • Willingness to work on holidays and late nights as per the banks requirement.
  • Adoptability to work on others products under security portfolio as per banks requirement.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience with firewall administration (Checkpoint R80+, Cisco ASA/FTD, Palo Alto PAN-OS).
  • Proficiency in F5 WAF (ASM, AWAF) deployment, policy tuning, and attack prevention.
  • Deep understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP/S, DNS, BGP).
  • Experience with NIPS, VPNs (IPsec, SSL VPN), and advanced threat protection.
  • Hands-on expertise in troubleshooting logs, packet captures, and security event analysis.
  • Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) firewall and WAF integration will be added advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to handle security incidents in a high-pressure environment
