Job Description

Job Title: Business Development Manager – Book Sales & Educational Allied Products

Department: Sales & Marketing

Location: [Multiple Locations/travel required]

Reports To: Business Head

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Business Development Manager to drive growth in book sales and educational allied products (including learning kits, digital content, academic resources, teacher tools, etc.). The role involves identifying new business opportunities, building strong client relationships with schools, educational institutions, distributors, and retailers, and achieving sales targets.

Key Responsibilities:Sales & Market Development:

  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to meet revenue targets for books and educational products.
  • Identify and onboard new clients, including schools, coaching centres, bookstores, and educational distributors.
  • Expand sales reach through direct marketing, channel partnerships, and institutional tie-ups.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build long-term relationships with key decision-makers – school principals, procurement heads, and curriculum coordinators.
  • Provide product demos and presentations to institutions and educators.
  • Address client queries and provide customized solutions from our catalogue.

Product Promotion:

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to plan promotional campaigns, events, and exhibitions.
  • Gather market intelligence and provide feedback for product improvement and new product development.
  • Train and support sales representatives and channel partners.

Sales Operations & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate sales reports, forecasts, and customer databases using CRM tools.
  • Monitor competitor activity and industry trends to inform strategy.
  • Ensure timely delivery, payment follow-ups, and after-sales service.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Education, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in B2B/B2C sales, preferably in publishing, EdTech, or educational products.
  • Proven track record in achieving sales targets and developing new business.

Skills Required:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and closing abilities.
  • Knowledge of the education sector and curriculum-based content.
  • Self-motivated, with a proactive attitude and ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with CRM software and MS Office tools.

Additional Preferences (Not Mandatory):

  • Experience working with schools affiliated to CBSE, ICSE, or State Boards.
  • Multilingual abilities (English + regional languages).
  • Willingness to travel extensively.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • New client acquisition rate.
  • Monthly and quarterly sales targets.
  • Client retention and satisfaction scores.
  • Number of product demos conducted.
  • Growth in territory or segment assigned.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹11,414.45 - ₹37,888.37 per month
