Job Description

Job Title: Winding Engineer

Location: Atlas Transformer India Limited (POR,GIDC)

Experience: 1-2 years in transformer industry

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Winding Engineer to oversee the winding process for distribution and power transformers. The role involves planning, supervising, and optimizing the winding of transformer coils (HV/LV) while ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and production standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and execute the winding of HV, LV, and regulating coils as per design specifications and process sheets.
  • Review winding drawings, insulation details, and material specifications before execution.
  • Ensure proper use of conductors (copper/aluminum), insulation materials, and other components during winding.
  • Monitor winding process parameters (tension, layering, interleaving, clearances) to maintain quality and avoid rework.
  • Ensure coils meet electrical and mechanical tolerances as per design standards (IS/IEC).
  • Manage workforce on the winding shop floor, assign daily tasks, and ensure productivity.
  • Coordinate with design, core assembly, and quality control teams for smooth workflow.
  • Maintain records of winding processes, material consumption, and inspection reports.
  • Conduct in-process inspections and address non-conformities.
  • Maintain 5S and safety practices in the winding area.
  • Suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce defects.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 1-2years of experience in winding operations within the transformer industry.
  • Strong knowledge of transformer winding types: layer, disc, helical, continuous, interleaved, etc.
  • Familiarity with relevant standards (IS, IEC, ANSI).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Good leadership and communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of ERP systems and MS Office tools.

Preferred Skills:

  • Hands-on experience in both power and distribution transformer coil winding.
  • Experience with foil winding machines and programmable coil winders.
  • Exposure to dry-type and oil-immersed transformer manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and quality tools (e.g. root cause analysis, 5 Why, Fishbone).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹17,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
