Technical Illustrator / Parts Catalog Author

Key Responsibilities

• Create parts lists using PLM applications and compile them into structured Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Use tools like Adobe Illustrator to break down or trace complex assemblies and generate interactive illustrations.
• Develop isometric and exploded views to help customers locate and identify components in a product.
• Interpret inputs from engineering teams and PLM tools to build product structures and part catalogs.
• Create and update assembly and Field Replaceable Unit (FRU) drawings based on engineering change requests.
• Understand and illustrate the assembly/disassembly sequence of mechanical/electrical components.
• Ensure part documentation is complete and available before product shipment deadlines.
• Collaborate with regional stakeholders to receive inputs and track ongoing project status.
• Update parts information based on replacement and superseding logic for service teams and end users.
• Review and address field discrepancies by analyzing feedback from product support and field teams.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance documentation quality and delivery efficiency.
  

Must-Have Qualifications

• A 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (mandatory).
• 3 to 5 years of experience in technical illustration and parts catalog creation (preferably in a product engineering environment).
• Proficiency in at least one or more of the following tools:
• Creo, Creo Illustrate, SolidWorks, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop
• Experience in developing isometric technical illustrations and exploded views.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills (only candidates rated 4 or 5 in communication will be considered).
• Experience must be within a product-based company, or a services company with a product-focused client/project.
• Job stability is important (minimum 2 years tenure in previous organizations).
  

Nice To Have

• Familiarity with PLM systems and change management processes.
• Exposure to working with cross-functional and cross-regional engineering or documentation teams.
  

Other Guidelines

• Candidates with more than 5 years of experience will not be considered.
• No candidates currently employed in restricted companies (as per internal hiring policy).
• Candidates must be open to relocating to Chennai.
