Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Structural Design Engineer specializing in dams and hydropower infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing structural analysis and design of hydraulic structures such as gravity dams, arch dams, embankment dams, spillways, powerhouses, penstocks, and intake structures. This role requires a strong understanding of civil and structural engineering principles, hydrology, seismic design, and concrete and steel structures.
Key Responsibilities
1. Perform structural design and analysis for new and existing dam and hydropower structures.
2. Prepare technical drawings, calculations, specifications, and design reports.
3. Conduct structural assessments and condition evaluations for existing dams and hydro facilities.
4. Use finite element software (e.g., ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro) for advanced structural modeling.
5. Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards (e.g., USACE, FERC, ICOLD, ASCE, ACI), and environmental regulations.
6. Collaborate with geotechnical, hydraulic, and environmental teams on multi-disciplinary projects.
7. Support the preparation of construction documents, tender documents, and technical proposals.
8. Assist in site inspections, construction supervision, and commissioning phases.
9. Provide technical input in risk assessments, dam safety evaluations, and failure mode analyses.
10. Stay updated with advancements in materials, methods, and regulations in dam and hydropower engineering.
Education:
1. Bachelor's degree in civil/Structural Engineering (Required)
2. Master’s degree in Structural or Hydraulic Engineering (Preferred)
Experience:
1. 5–10 years of relevant experience in structural design for dams and hydropower facilities.
2. Experience into Detailed Design of Dams / Hydropower and PSP's Project.
Skills and Competencies
1. Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete and steel design.
2. Proficiency in design software: AutoCAD, Revit, SAP2000, ETABS, Plaxis (optional), Abaqus (optional).
3. Familiarity with hydropower plant components and civil interfaces.
4. Good understanding of seismic and dynamic analysis for large structures.
5. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a project team.
