About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Applied Researcher to lead cutting-edge work at the frontier of small language model (SLM) training, LLM customization, and domain adaptation. At Genloop, we believe domain intelligence is essential to bring GenAI into enterprise production—especially for use cases where a 1-year employee outperforms a 1st-day hire by orders of magnitude.

Your work will span foundational model pretraining, supervised fine-tuning, and building novel agentic workflows. You’ll shape how LLMs adapt, specialize, and improve over time—turning deep research into real-world systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and run experiments across SLM training, fine-tuning, distillation, and continual learning.

• Customize LLMs for specific enterprise domains using techniques like LoRA, DPO, instruction tuning, and adapters.

• Rigorously evaluate models for performance, alignment, memory retention, and robustness.

• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ship research-backed systems into production.

• Contribute to internal research documentation, open-source releases, and technical blog posts.

• Stay ahead of the curve on LLM architectures, pretraining objectives, and model evaluation strategies.

• Mentor junior researchers and guide the broader team with insights from the frontier.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in ML research or applied deep learning, preferably focused on NLP, foundation models, or multi-modal systems. (Exceptional 2–4 year profiles welcome too.)

• Deep understanding of transformers, language modeling, and sequence generation.

• Hands-on experience with pretraining, SFT, RLHF, and efficient fine-tuning methods.

• Strong publications or open-source contributions are a plus.

• You’ve either graduated from a Tier 1 institution (IITs, IISc, BITS, etc.) or pulled off something that made people go, “wait, how did you do that?”
