The School of Maritime Studies, Centurion University is seeking a dynamic and meticulous Shipboard Training Manager to oversee our vital Structured Shipboard Training Programme (SSTP). About the Role: This critical role is essential to the effective execution of our Shipboard Structure Training Programme (SSTP). You will be responsible for the detailed implementation, thorough monitoring, and evaluation of all shipboard training activities for our cadets across various programs (e.g., DNS, BSc NS, GME, ETO). Your main objective will be to ensure that all training strictly adheres to University curriculum requirements, DG Shipping directives, and international STCW 2010 standards, thereby fostering the development of highly competent and compliant maritime professionals. Your Key Responsibilities Will Include: Overseeing the day-to-day operations and management of the SSTP for all relevant maritime programs. Ensuring SSTP structures are current and compliant with regulatory standards. Developing and maintaining program-specific SSTP requirements, including evaluation criteria for Distance Learning Program (DLP) modules. Conducting pre-sea orientations and providing ongoing support to cadets. Monitoring cadet progress, ensuring timely completion of Training Record Books (TRBs) and DLP modules. Conducting timely TRB reviews and final comprehensive evaluations of cadets, TRBs, DLP completion, and project work. Assessing supporting documentation, including watchkeeping certificates and sea service testimonials. Conducting oral assessments to validate cadets, understanding and authenticity of completed tasks. Recommending the issuance of SSTP completion certificates. Maintaining effective communication with Placement Coordinators, Shipboard Training Officers (STOs), Masters, and Company Training Officers (CTOs). Ensuring all SSTP processes and records are maintained in strict compliance with regulatory requirements and are audit-ready. Actively participating in the annual review and continuous improvement of the SSTP quality process. What We are Looking For: A committed maritime professional with previous experience in onboard training , preferably as a deck officer or from a strong maritime training background . Familiarity with maritime training standards such as STCW 2010 and DG Shipping directives is essential. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to monitor, evaluate, and guide cadets effectively. Meticulous attention to detail for record-keeping and compliance. A proactive approach to quality assurance and continuous improvement.
