Job Description – Production Line Supervisor / Engineer Position: Production Line Supervisor / Engineer Department: Production / Operations Reporting To: Production Manager / Plant Head Major Roles & Responsibilities1. Efficiency Optimization Confirm line attendance at the start of each shift and ensure full team availability. Monitor and improve line efficiency proactively to achieve zero stoppages. Identify operational bottlenecks, develop corrective solutions, and remove barriers to maximize productivity. Implement best practices to achieve optimal line utilization and throughput. 2. Quality Control Enhance and maintain key quality metrics like Inline Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) and Total Units Pass (TUP) ratio. Drive a continuous improvement culture by involving shop floor employees in quality initiatives. Conduct detailed defect analysis, implement action plans, and ensure continuous quality improvement. Collaborate with quality teams to ensure adherence to standards and process compliance. 3. Defect Management (OS&D)Accurately track and manage all rejected items (OS&D – Over, Short & Damaged). Perform detailed analyses of on-line rejected parts to identify root causes. Drive and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to reduce rejection rates and enhance first-time quality. 4. Training and Skill Development Conduct regular training sessions for operators to develop multiskilling and enhance flexibility in manpower deployment. Train new employees to ensure a strong understanding of processes and defect-free execution. Build and sustain a high-skill workforce capable of adapting to contingency situations. Key Competencies & Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills. Good understanding of lean manufacturing and process improvement techniques. Problem-solving and analytical mindset. Effective communication and collaboration across departments. Ability to work under pressure and manage production targets. Knowledge of quality control tools, defect analysis, and root cause analysis. Qualification & Experience: Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical, Automobile, Industrial, or Production Engineering. 3–8 years of experience in manufacturing/assembly/production line supervision.
