Manager on duty

Job Summary:

The Manager on Duty (MOD) ensures smooth, safe, and efficient functioning of hospital operations during assigned shifts, especially after regular working hours, weekends, and holidays. The MOD acts as the central point of contact for operational decisions, patient issues, and emergency response coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise hospital operations during off-hours (evenings, nights, weekends, holidays).
• Act as the primary escalation point for patient complaints, grievances, or service disruptions.
• Monitor emergency and critical care services to ensure prompt response and coordination.
• Ensure departments follow hospital SOPs and compliance protocols.
• Coordinate with clinical and non-clinical staff to manage bed availability and admissions/discharges.
• Handle administrative issues, staff shortages, or conflicts and escalate when needed.
• Ensure timely reporting and documentation of incidents, accidents, and emergencies.
• Oversee security, housekeeping, and other facility services during the shift.
• Ensure a patient-centric approach in all interactions and decisions.
• Maintain a shift report/logbook and communicate critical issues to the next MOD/Administrator.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Hospital Administration, Healthcare Management, or equivalent.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in hospital operations or administrative roles.
• Strong leadership, communication, and crisis-handling skills.
• Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to work independently and make quick decisions under pressure.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with hospital management systems (HMS)
• Basic clinical understanding to coordinate with doctors/nurses effectively
• Conflict resolution and customer service mindset
• Professional, calm, and empathetic demeanor under stress

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
