Job Description

Required Skill set

  • Mainframe Network administration including VTAM, TCPIP, JES2, HCD, WLM. 
  • z/OS System Programming knowledge with SMP/E 
  • Knowledge on REXX, assembler, JCL 
  • Experienced at troubleshooting connectivity and performance issues in a z/OS environment   
  • Experience in other z/OS operating system components would be advantageous  

 

Key Activities Performed


  • Install, upgrade, maintain and customise the z/OS communications server products VTAM and TCP/IP and other networking related IBM and OEM products and features.  
  • Perform these activities such as SMP/E, REXX and assembler.  
  • Proactively monitor mainframe network and related software and to take action to prevent potential issues and to maximise performance.   
  • To improve such monitoring and increase automation where possible.   
  • Maintain robustness of the configuration and to maintain and test the mainframe DR solution from a network perspective.   
  • Assist users with the analysis of issues with connectivity.   
  • Deal with day to day support issues related to mainframe networking and associated products.   
  • Thoroughly document the environment and all activities performed.   
  • To work closely with the client, operations and other technicians to create robust plans and processes in line with business requirements.   
  • To produce technical recommendations and service and stability improvements in line with business requirements.
