Job Description

Job Title: Editor

Location: Noida

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Sr Editor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and child-focused Editor to lead the editorial direction of our children’s magazine, designed for readers aged 4 to 14. The ideal candidate is passionate about children’s media, has a strong background in publishing or journalism, and can balance interesting, engaging content with educational value. This role involves overseeing all editorial aspects of the magazine—from story development and layout to contributor management and final publication.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement the editorial vision, tone, and content strategy aligned with the magazine’s mission and audience.

2. Plan editorial calendars in coordination with design, peer review and internal review team.

3. Curate a mix of fiction, non-fiction, puzzles, comics, activities, and educational features suitable for a child audience.

3. Assign and edit stories, ensuring they are age-appropriate, engaging, and aligned with current themes or educational goals.

4. Write headlines, cover lines, and occasional feature stories.

5. Collaborate with illustrators, designers, and photographers to enhance storytelling.

6. Manage and mentor junior editors, freelancers, and contributors.

7. Review and approve all content prior to publication.

8. Maintain a network of educators, authors, and child development experts to ensure content is accurate and enriching.

9. Oversee copyediting, proofreading, and fact-checking processes.

10. Ensure timely delivery of each issue to meet print and/or digital publication schedules.

11. Maintain a high standard of quality, readability, and child safety in all editorial material.

12. Stay up to date on trends in children’s media, education, and literature.

13. Gather and analyze reader feedback to continually improve content.

14. Collaborate with marketing and education teams to ensure alignment with broader brand initiatives.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or related field (Master’s preferred)

2. 3+ years of editorial experience, preferably in children’s publishing or media

3. Demonstrated ability to create content for children

4. Excellent editing, writing, and communication skills of child development and age-appropriate learning content

5.Strong organizational and project management skills

6. Proficient in content management systems and publishing tools

7. about fostering literacy, creativity, and curiosity in young readers

8. Background in education or early childhood development and child psychology.

9. Familiarity with National education policy 2020 and SDG
