Data Governance Analyst

As a Data Governance Analyst, you will be responsible for defining, implementing, and maintaining robust data governance standards and practices. You will lead efforts in data classification and cataloguing, leveraging the Azure data ecosystem (Azure Purview, Azure Data Catalog, Azure Schema Registry), and champion the implementation of data contracts across the platform.

You will work closely with engineering, product, and compliance teams to ensure that data is well-documented, discoverable, secure, and used responsibly across Neuron’s data products.

You will work in a start-up-like environment but with the scale and mission of a global business behind you.

The Role:

• Define, implement, and maintain data classification and cataloguing processes for all key data assets.
• Drive the adoption and configuration of

  Azure Purview

  ,

  Azure Data Catalog

  , and

  Azure Schema Registry

  to enable metadata management, lineage tracking, and data discovery.
• Lead the creation and management of business glossaries, metadata, and data lineage for transparency and compliance.
• Implement and maintain

  data contracts

  in collaboration with engineering and data product teams, ensuring data quality and compliance requirements are enforced at source.
• Coordinate data access reviews and ensure all governance policies are met.
• Collaborate with technical, product, and legal teams to interpret regulations and operationalize data governance standards.
• Create documentation and deliver training for data owners, data stewards, and platform users.
• Support the data governance lifecycle: onboarding, monitoring, change management, and continuous improvement.

Propose and drive improvements to data governance tooling and processes based on industry best practices.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Management, Engineering, or related discipline.

Experience:

6 to 9 years of hands-on experience in data governance, data management, or data stewardship roles.

Technical Competencies:

• Proven experience with

  data classification

  and

  data cataloguing

  in large-scale environments.
• Hands-on experience with the

  Azure data governance suite

  : Azure Purview, Azure Data Catalog, and Azure Schema Registry.
• Track record of

  implementing and maintaining data contracts

  for data quality, lineage, and compliance.
• Working knowledge of metadata management, lineage tracking, and access policy enforcement.

Familiarity with regulatory compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.) and enterprise data governance frameworks.
