Outlook India is launching an exciting new Gaming and Youth Culture Division to become the premier destination for gaming communities and fandoms worldwide. We cover everything from gaming & competitive esports to the latest in anime, concerts, and youth culture trends. With our established media expertise, we're committed to telling the most compelling stories for stakeholders in gaming, esports, and pop culture industries. 

Outlook India is seeking a Section Editor to help lead news coverage by assigning and editing breaking news and business-focused stories on the gaming, esports, anime, music, and youth culture industries. Working closely with our writers to produce scoops and compelling narratives, this editor will identify major storylines in the space, as well as determine the best angles and digital formats to cover them.

Responsibilities

Manage a team of content writers, journalists, and social media specialists.

Make daily decisions on breaking news, guides, and feature story coverage.

Brainstorm, assign, and edit several stories per week.

Adhere to Outlook India's editorial standards.

This role reports to the Editor-in-Chief of Outlook India’s new gaming division. 

Basic Qualifications

• Strong command of the English language.
• Knowledge of the Indian gaming, esports, anime, and adjacent youth culture industries.
• 2+ years of experience as a digital writer/editor.
• Experience managing content writers, journalists, and social media specialists.
• Proficiency with content management systems (WordPress, Quintype, or similar).
• Basic knowledge of web analytics (Google Analytics, social media insights).
• Experience with SEO best practices and keyword optimization.
• Passion for gaming, esports, anime, and all things pop culture with ability to stay current on trends and developments.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with leaders and key stakeholders in the above-mentioned industries. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Is curious about the behind-the-scenes workings of the above-mentioned industries
• Experience with social media management tools (Hootsuite, or native platforms).
• Understanding of best practices for engaging business audiences (headlines, publishing cadence, etc). Knowledge of live streaming platforms (Twitch, YouTube Live, etc).
• Experience with project management tools (Slack, Trello, or similar).
• Basic HTML/CSS knowledge for content formatting.
• Passion for constantly evolving as an editor, taking inspiration from other industries like sports or movies and adapting them to our line of work.
