News Content Writer

Overview

PENNEP is seeking a dynamic and driven News Content Writer to join our Client's team. This role requires writing a minimum of 6 news articles per day, covering breaking news, trending topics, and relevant industry developments. Candidate will also be responsible for interviewing public figures, including politicians, entrepreneurs, artists, and other influencers, and turning those interviews into compelling content.

Responsibilities

• Research and write a minimum of 6 original, high-quality news articles per day.
• Identify, pitch, and develop newsworthy story ideas across multiple beats.
• Interview public figures, experts, and key sources to gather insights and quotes.
• Convert interviews into engaging articles, Q&A pieces, or profile features.
• Cover breaking news and provide real-time updates with accuracy and speed.
• Fact-check all content and ensure adherence to journalistic standards and ethical guidelines.
• Write attention-grabbing headlines and SEO-friendly content.
• Work closely with video and social media teams to repurpose written content for different formats.
• Maintain an organised content calendar and meet tight daily deadlines.
• Track article performance using analytics tools and optimize content based on engagement.
• Stay updated with current affairs, global trends, and competitor content.
• Collaborate with editors and senior writers to enhance the depth and tone of coverage.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in digital news writing or reporting.
• Proven experience conducting professional interviews.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress), news wires, and digital publishing tools.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom environment.
• Understanding of SEO, social media trends, and digital engagement metrics.
