Technical Skills

1. Piping Systems and Layouts

• Knowledge of pumps, valves, pipelines, and flow control systems.

2. Pump Operation & Maintenance

• Understanding of centrifugal, submersible, and dosing pumps.

3. HVAC and Fluid Mechanics

• Understanding water flow, pressure loss, and thermal systems in treatment processes.

4. Water Treatment Equipment Knowledge

• Filters, RO units, clarifiers, aerators, softeners, etc

5. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

• Scheduling and executing maintenance activities on mechanical systems.

6. CAD Software Proficiency

• AutoCAD / SolidWorks for designing pipe layouts or plant components.

7. Hydraulics and Pneumatics

• For actuators, dosing systems, or chemical handling equipment.

8. System Troubleshooting

• Diagnosing mechanical faults, leaks, or equipment failures.

9. Process Optimization

• Improving plant efficiency through better pump/system performance.

10. Reading P&ID Drawings

• Understanding process & instrumentation diagrams.

Compliance and Safety

1. Knowledge of Environmental & Safety Standards

o CPCB, PCB norms, ISO 14001, OHSAS, etc.

2. Work Permit System / LOTO

o Safe execution of repair and maintenance tasks.

Software Knowledge

• AutoCAD / SolidWorks (design)

• MS Office (reports, maintenance logs)

• SCADA/HMI familiarity (advantage)

• CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)

Soft Skills

• Team collaboration with electrical/civil/process teams.

• Communication with vendors, contractors, and plant operators.

• Problem-solving and decision-making.
