Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Azure Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead the development, training, and mentorship of our junior Azure engineering team. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise across Azure services and architecture, strong hands-on technical capabilities, and a passion for knowledge sharing and capability building. You will design structured learning pathways, deliver hands-on training sessions, and provide ongoing technical mentorship to ensure our Azure engineers develop into top-performing cloud professionals. Key Responsibilities: Training Program Development : Design, implement, and continuously refine a structured Azure training curriculum tailored for junior engineers. Technical Coaching : Deliver workshops, bootcamps, and one-on-one coaching sessions covering Azure fundamentals to advanced cloud engineering practices. Hands-On Demonstrations : Lead real-world labs, projects, and proof-of-concept (POC) exercises to reinforce learning. Mentorship : Act as a technical mentor, providing career guidance, knowledge checks, performance feedback, and skills development plans for junior team members. Cloud Best Practices : Instill industry best practices related to Azure governance, security, architecture, DevOps, and operational excellence. Documentation : Develop and maintain internal knowledge bases, runbooks, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and learning materials. Technical Escalation Point : Support junior engineers in solving complex Azure issues and act as an escalation point for troubleshooting. Continuous Improvement : Monitor learning progress, gather feedback, and adjust training programs to maximize effectiveness. Stakeholder Collaboration : Work closely with leadership, HR, and technical teams to align training programs with business goals and workforce development needs. Required Skills and Qualifications: 10+ years overall IT experience with 7+ years of specialized experience in Azure cloud services. Deep expertise in Azure IaaS, PaaS, networking, identity (Azure AD), security, governance, and cost optimization. Proficiency with Azure DevOps, ARM templates, Bicep, Terraform, and scripting (PowerShell, CLI, Python a plus). Strong understanding of cloud design patterns, landing zones, enterprise-scale deployments, and cloud migration strategies. Prior experience designing and delivering technical training or mentoring programs. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills; ability to explain complex technical concepts to junior audiences. Hands-on experience in setting up labs, environments, and sandbox scenarios for training. Relevant certifications (preferred): Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert Passion for teaching, mentoring, and building strong engineering teams. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with multi-cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP) is a plus. Exposure to Agile methodologies and working in agile teams. Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR) in cloud environments. Experience in setting up Azure labs or training environments at scale. The Canonical Kernel Team - those responsible for the build, maintenance, and distribution of the Linux kernel for Ubuntu - are looking for individuals with a strong flair for software development at the hardware level and a passion for ensuring the most optimal performance the silicon can provide. The successful candidate will be able to prove a strong aptitude for software engineering at the hardware level. While direct experience with the Linux kernel would be a substantial advantage, it is not a hard requirement for candidates with prior background in other RTOS' or bare-metal environments as long as direct hardware experience can be demonstrated.
