Job Description

The Director of the School of Pharmacy is a visionary leader, responsible for driving the academic, administrative, and strategic goals of the School. This position requires a combination of academic qualifications, leadership experience, and a deep understanding of the disciplines within these fields, and provides guidance in the areas of pedagogy, curriculum, research, student recruitment and retention, and faculty development, as well as interdisciplinary initiatives within the College and University. Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the college's strategic plan, aligning with the university's mission and goals. Academic Program Oversight: Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of academic programs, including curriculum design and assessment. Faculty Management: Oversee faculty recruitment, development, and evaluation. Budget and Resource Management: Manage the college's budget, resources, and personnel. Accreditation: Ensure accreditation standards are met and prepare for accreditation visits. Representation: Represent the pharmacy school at professional meetings and events. Coordination: Coordinate with other university departments and external organizations. Leadership: Strong leadership, management, and communication skills. Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement strategic plans. Academic Expertise: Knowledge of pharmacy education and curriculum development. Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with faculty, staff, and students. Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of pharmacy regulations and accreditation standards. Teaching/Mentoring/Counselling: Experience in teaching, mentoring, and counselling. Key Skills An established national reputation in research and/or creative achievement, teaching, and service. Scholarship, academic achievement, and the energy and intellect to work collaboratively with the faculty to develop a challenging and compelling vision. Should have citations of their research publications in peer reviewed journals. Desirable Administrative experience in a responsible position. Education and Experience The candidate must hold a PhD from Accredited University with first Class degree at Bachelor’s and Master’s level in the appropriate branch of specialization in Pharmacy. 15 years’ experience in Teaching/industry/Research out of which 5 years must be at the level of Professor or above in Pharmacy.
