Job Title: Corporate Lawyer (In-House Legal Counsel)

Location: Kochi, Kerala, India (Preference for candidates based in Kerala)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Experience Required: 2–3 years of post-qualification experience in corporate legal practice, preferably with exposure to in-house counsel roles or law firms advising startups or tech companies.

Educational Qualification:

*LLB (Bachelor of Laws) from a recognized Indian university

*Member of the Bar Council of India (mandatory)

*Additional certifications or coursework in Intellectual Property Law will be a plus

About the Role:

We are looking to hire a skilled and proactive Corporate Lawyer to help build our in-house legal team and strengthen legal operations across the company. The ideal candidate will have a solid grounding in Indian corporate law, with hands-on experience handling contracts, compliance, legal disputes, and IP-related matters. You will be instrumental in ensuring our operations are legally sound, our contracts are water-tight, and our brand, content, and technology assets are protected.

Key Responsibilities:

1.Contract Management

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements with:
• Business partners and vendors
• Employees, freelancers, and contractual staff
• Users and platform collaborators
• Maintain version control and standardized templates across contract types.

2.Legal Notices & Dispute Response

• Prepare legal notices and respond to notices received from third parties, consumers, ex-employees, or authorities.
• Ensure timely, lawful, and well-articulated responses in coordination with relevant teams.
• Coordinate with external counsel as needed.

3.Regulatory Compliance & Legal Advisory

• Advise management on compliance with Indian corporate, labor, IT, and employment laws.
• Support internal policy development to align with statutory and contractual obligations.
• Stay updated on evolving regulations impacting the edtech and digital platforms sector.

4. Law Enforcement & Consumer Court Liaison

• Represent the company in police matters and respond to law enforcement inquiries professionally and lawfully.
• Handle consumer court complaints, including documentation, filings, and representation.

5. Stakeholder Legal Support

• Address legal queries and disputes from partners, vendors, users, and other stakeholders.
• Support resolution processes with sound legal judgment and business-aligned decisions.

6. Intellectual Property (IP) Law & Brand Protection

• Assist in securing, protecting, and enforcing the company’s intellectual property rights (trademarks, copyrights, content, and technology IP).
• Manage filings, renewals, and infringement responses for IP assets.
• Advise product, content, and marketing teams on fair use, copyright, licensing, and brand compliance.
• Monitor and act on IP violations on digital platforms.

7.Documentation & Legal Process Building

• Organize and maintain digital records of all contracts, notices, case files, and compliance reports.
• Help establish scalable legal processes for a growing company.

Preferred Skills & Attributes:

• Strong understanding of Indian corporate, commercial, labor, and IP law.
• Experience in contract drafting, dispute management, and regulatory compliance.
• Working knowledge of IP filing procedures (trademark, copyright)
• Excellent legal writing and documentation skills
• Clear communicator with the ability to explain legal issues to non-legal teams
• Ability to manage multiple issues simultaneously with attention to detail
• Fluent in English; knowledge of Malayalam is an added advantage
• Integrity, professionalism, and ability to work with discretion
