An O&M (Operations & Maintenance) Commissioning Engineer in Water Technologies plays a critical role in ensuring that water treatment plants and systems—such as desalination plants, wastewater treatment facilities, and water purification systems—are correctly installed, tested, and fully operational before being handed over to the client or operations team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Commissioning Activities:
o Oversee and execute the commissioning of mechanical, electrical, and control systems in water treatment facilities.
o Ensure all systems operate according to design specifications and safety standards.
o Conduct start-up and performance testing of equipment (e.g., pumps, filters, membranes, instrumentation).
2. Operations & Maintenance:
o Develop and implement O&M procedures and manuals.
o Train the operations staff on plant processes and routine maintenance.
o Monitor plant performance during initial operation and troubleshoot issues.
3. Technical Documentation:
o Prepare commissioning reports, as-built documentation, and handover packages.
o Ensure all documentation complies with industry standards and project requirements.
4. Coordination and Communication:
o Work closely with project managers, design engineers, contractors, and clients.
o Ensure that timelines, safety regulations, and quality standards are met.
5. Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance (HSE):
o Ensure all commissioning activities comply with HSE policies and procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications
· Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (or a related field).
· Experience: Experience in commissioning and operating water treatment systems is highly valuable.
· Technical Knowledge: Understanding of water treatment processes (RO, UF, MBR, etc.), control systems (SCADA, PLC), and equipment.
· Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, good communication, and project management skills.
