Job Title: Shift Engineer – Mechanical (Ferro Alloys Plant) Location: Industrial Growth Centre, Industrial Road, Phase II Siltara, Sondra, Chhattisgarh 492001. Department: Mechanical Reporting To: Maintenance Manager / Plant Head Shift: Day Shift Job Purpose: To ensure smooth operation and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment in a ferro alloys plant during assigned shifts. Responsible for minimizing downtime and ensuring plant reliability and safety. Key Responsibilities: Oversee mechanical maintenance activities for furnaces, crushers, conveyors, compressors, and other plant machinery during the shift. Monitor performance and condition of critical equipment and take timely preventive and corrective action. Respond to mechanical breakdowns swiftly to minimize production loss. Supervise and guide maintenance technicians and fitters during the shift. Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities, shift logs, and breakdown reports. Coordinate with production and electrical teams to support continuous operation. Maintain safety standards and ensure compliance with company HSE policies. Plan and execute minor shutdown activities during the shift in coordination with the maintenance planner. Maintain inventory of critical spares and raise requisitions as needed. Key Skills and Qualifications: Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. 3–6 years of experience in mechanical maintenance in a ferro alloys plant or similar heavy industry. Hands-on knowledge of furnaces, rotary kilns, cooling systems, gearboxes, and hydraulic systems. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Familiar with CMMS systems (like SAP PM) is a plus. Ability to work independently in a rotating shift environment. Working Conditions: Plant-based role with exposure to heat, dust, and heavy machinery. Requires wearing PPE and adherence to strict safety protocols. Rotational shifts including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
