Conduct regular health checks, backups, restores, reorgs, and consistency checks. Manage user access, roles, permissions, and auditing to maintain security and compliance. Incident & Alert Management Proactively respond to system alerts, logs, and monitoring tools to address issues before they escalate. Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for critical incidents and performance degradations. Actively engage in incident and problem management calls, documenting root cause and preventive actions. Development Support & Debugging Work closely with developers to support application deployment and SQL debugging. Assist in query tuning, stored procedure optimization, and error resolution. Documentation & Reporting Maintain comprehensive documentation of database environments, configurations, procedures, and policies. Generate regular reports on database performance, capacity, and incident trends for management review. Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role Must-Have Skills: hands-on experience with Sybase ASE (Adaptive Server Enterprise) administration. Strong command of SQL, performance tuning techniques, and database internals. Proficiency in shell scripting or automation tools for routine database tasks. Familiarity with database backup, restore, and recovery procedures. Experience in supporting high-availability and disaster recovery configurations. Good-to-Have Skills: Exposure to other RDBMS platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) is a plus. Knowledge of ITIL processes for incident, change, and problem management.
