Logistics & Material Handling Engineer

Job Title: Logistics & Material Handling Engineer Department: Logistics / Material Handling / Operations Job Purpose: The role involves effective management of capital and revenue budgets, preventive maintenance, logistics innovation, and operational efficiency for material handling systems. The position is also responsible for safety compliance, scrap management, environmental processes, and cost optimization within the logistics and material handling function. Key Responsibilities:1. Capital Budget Management Prepare detailed manual reports and obtain approvals to raise IR (Investment Request). Plan, execute, and ensure smooth implementation of capital budget activities related to material handling and logistics infrastructure. 2. Revenue Budget Management Identify critical operations and movements in the shop floor. Prepare detailed reports with countermeasures. Coordinate with Controls & Compliance (C&C) and Utilities & Services (U&S) teams for planning, execution, and implementation of activities within the revenue budget. 3. Preventive Maintenance Ensure uninterrupted operation of material handling equipment through daily preventive maintenance. Oversee AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) activities to maintain equipment reliability. 4. Logistics Innovation Identify and implement innovative projects aimed at simplifying operations and reducing operator fatigue in logistics and material handling. 5. Safety Compliance Identify critical operations requiring safety interventions. Initiate and implement new safety practices in material handling activities to enhance workplace safety. 6. Scrap & Asset Management Manage unused assets effectively to avoid scrap buildup. Coordinate with the material purchase team to facilitate the sale or responsible disposal of redundant assets. 7. Cost Saving Initiatives Drive and implement innovative cost-saving projects. Achieve predefined cost improvement targets through process optimization and efficient resource utilization. 8. EMS/OHSMS Compliance Periodically check and update all documentation related to the Environment Management System (EMS) and Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS). Ensure all environmental and safety processes are accurate and compliant with internal and external standards. 9. Visual Management & Display Enhancement Maintain operational and safety displays at appropriate locations. Identify the need for new displays and replace damaged signage as part of continuous improvement. Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of logistics, material handling systems, and preventive maintenance. Budgeting and project management skills (Capital & Revenue). Understanding of EMS, OHSMS, and safety regulations. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Familiarity with automation and logistics innovations is an advantage. Qualifications: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Production Engineering. Experience:3 to 8 years of relevant experience in logistics operations, material handling equipment management, maintenance, and process improvement preferably in manufacturing or automotive industries.
