CAM Application Engineer

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced CAD/CAM Programming Engineer to join our team on a contract or freelance basis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing CAD designs and CAM programs for CNC machining, with a strong focus on Mastercam programming. This role requires hands-on experience in optimizing machining processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cycle time.

Key Responsibilities:

CAD Design:

Develop 3D models and 2D drawings for parts, jigs, and fixtures using CAD software.

Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, considering materials, tolerances, and machining methods.

Modify and revise designs based on feedback from engineers, designers, and production teams.

CAM Programming:

Convert CAD designs into CNC machine programs using Mastercam.

Optimize tool paths, feeds, and speeds to enhance machining efficiency and precision.

Select appropriate tooling, fixturing, and machining parameters to reduce cycle times and improve part quality.

Collaborate with CNC machinists to test, verify, and adjust CAM programs as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

3+ years of experience as a CAD/CAM Engineer, specifically in a manufacturing environment.

Expertise in Mastercam for CNC programming is mandatory.

Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, Fusion 360).

Strong knowledge of G-code programming and CNC machining operations.

Experience in manufacturing industries such as automotive, aerospace, tooling, or medical devices.

Ability to troubleshoot machining and programming issues.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
