Job Category: Species Recovery Location: Valmikinagar, BIhar Date Posted: 16-May-2025 WTI is looking for a committed biologist and manager to strengthen our conservation efforts in Valmiki Tiger Reserve and adjoining landscape in Bihar. If you’re someone who enjoys spending time in nature, values local knowledge, experienced in managing conservation projects, and wants your work to directly contribute to the recovery of threatened wildlife and habitats, this role is crafted for you. We’re working in the landscape with rich biodiversity—from rivers to forests—and facing substantial conservation challenges that need both scientific insight and grassroots actions. We’re looking for a biologist who can lead field surveys, assess the threats faced by species and ecosystems, and work closely with local communities and the Forest Department to implement practical, science-based conservation solutions. You need to be a scientifically sound team player and field implementer with an eye for detail, and the skills to communicate with diverse groups. The work will be hands-on— population and habitat surveys, documenting biodiversity, designing and implementing conservation solutions. You’ll be part of a supportive, passionate team committed to long-term change, with space to bring your ideas, build partnerships, and grow professionally. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, adapt, and take ownership to move the projects forward with initiative and commitment. Qualifications: 1. Postgraduate degree in Zoology, Wildlife Science, or allied Life Sciences with a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in research and/or conservation. 2. Experience in implementing conservation projects on the ground, including planning, coordination, and reporting. 3. Demonstrated experience working in terrestrial and/or aquatic ecosystems 4. Proven expertise in ecological survey design, field data collection, and execution of research or conservation projects 5. Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team; must be a reliable team player 6. Proficiency in both Hindi and English (spoken and written). 7. Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., R, SPSS) and GIS tools for spatial analysis and mapping. (Preferable) 9. Strong organizational and project management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting. (Preferable)
