Workshop manager cum lathe operator

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Workshop Manager cum Lathe Operator with hands-on experience in workshop operations, lathe machining, and basic ITI-level technical knowledge. The ideal candidate should be capable of reading and interpreting technical drawings, using various mechanical and electrical equipment, and managing day-to-day workshop activities efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate lathe machines and other related workshop machinery as per production requirements.

• Read and understand engineering drawings, sketches, and specifications to produce precision components.

• Supervise workshop activities, manage manpower, and ensure timely job completion.

• Handle and maintain mechanical and basic electrical equipment used in workshop operations.

• Monitor and ensure quality control and accuracy of manufactured parts.

• Maintain workshop discipline, housekeeping, and safety protocols.

• Track and manage material inventory, tools, and machine maintenance schedules.

• Coordinate with the production and design team to achieve production targets.

• Provide regular updates on work progress and machine health.

• Train and guide junior workshop staff when necessary.

Key Requirements:

• Qualification: ITI (Fitter/Turner/Machinist) or equivalent technical certification.

• Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience as a lathe operator and/or workshop supervisor.

• Technical Skills:

• Proficient in lathe operations and general workshop machinery.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.

• Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment.

• Familiarity with workshop measurement tools (vernier, micrometer, etc.).

• Managerial Skills:

• Ability to manage workshop operations independently.

• Strong organizational and leadership abilities.

• Other Skills:

• Basic understanding of safety standards and workshop best practices.

• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
