VMC Machine Operator

Job Purpose

To set up and operate Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) to perform precision machining operations required for the manufacturing of components used in vacuum pumps and systems. Responsible for maintaining quality, safety, and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Machine Setup & Operation:
• Set up and operate VMC machines as per job orders and technical drawings.
• Load raw materials and tools into the machine and ensure accurate alignment.
• Adjust machine settings (speeds, feeds, offsets) for optimal performance.
• Programming:
• Read and understand G-code / CNC programming.
• Make minor edits to CNC programs as required.
• Coordinate with the programming team for program corrections and improvements.
• Quality & Inspection:
• Perform in-process inspection using precision instruments like Vernier, micrometer, bore gauge, and height gauge.
• Ensure components meet drawing specifications and tolerances.
• Record inspection reports and notify quality issues to the supervisor.
• Maintenance & Safety:
• Carry out routine cleaning and minor maintenance of the VMC machine.
• Follow all safety and operational guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
• Report machine faults and breakdowns promptly.
• Documentation:
• Maintain daily production and inspection reports.
• Assist in maintaining machine logs and tool usage records.
• Coordination:
• Work closely with the production planning and quality control teams.
• Assist in new component development and prototyping when required.

Required Skills & Competencies

• In-depth knowledge of VMC machine operations.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (GD&T).
• Familiarity with machining tolerances and surface finish requirements.
• Proficient in using measuring instruments and quality inspection tools.
• Basic understanding of CNC programming (Fanuc/Mitsubishi/Siemens preferred).
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Educational Qualification

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Tool & Die Making
• CNC/VMC Operator Certification is an advantage

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Shop floor-based role with standing and operating machinery for extended hours
• Use of safety gear like gloves, goggles, and hearing protection is mandatory

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
