Develop and refine models for generator excitation systems, including Automatic Voltage Regulators (AVR) and associated control systems, using industry-standard software (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PSS/E, DIgSILENT), Perform field testing and validation of tuning parameters on operational generators. Examine the dynamic performance of generators in the presence of a variety of operating conditions and disturbances. Identify and resolve problems associated with suboptimal PSS performance or malfunctions of the excitation system. Work in close collaboration with equipment vendors, grid administrators, and power system engineers to guarantee that designs adhere to regulatory standards (e.g., IEEE, NERC, IEC). Offer technical mentorship for generator installations, retrofits, and improvements. Generate comprehensive technical reports, model documentation, and refining procedures for regulatory bodies and internal teams. Retain current records of test results, simulations, and designs. Effective Co-ordination & communication with PM/lead engineers. Ensure the highest level of customer focus and meet or exceed the customer satisfaction targets by following departmental quality procedures. Ability to travel to field sites for testing and commissioning as needed. Ensure compliance to prescribed Emerson health and safety norms in the team.
