Sound Head

Job Description – Sound Head – Delhi Based

We are looking for a Sound Head (Production Sound Mixer) for an upcoming low-budget Indie feature film, based in Delhi.

This role is suited for someone passionate about on-location sound recording and mixing, with a solid understanding of equipment, acoustics, and audio quality control. The Sound Head will play a key role in capturing clean, usable sync sound and coordinating with the post-production sound team for a seamless workflow.

We are open to individuals with prior experience in short films, indie features, or student projects. Candidates with training from institutes like FTII, SRFTI, Whistling Woods, AAFT, etc., will be preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead all on-set sound recording activities

- Manage boom operators and sound assistants (if any)

- Ensure clean dialogue and ambient recordings during shoots

- Monitor and troubleshoot sound equipment on location

- Coordinate with the Director and DOP to ensure sound sync and quality

- Maintain detailed sound reports and organise audio data for post-production

Requirements:

- Based in Delhi NCR

- Prior experience recording sync sound for short films, indie projects, or student films

- Proficiency with industry-standard field sound equipment (Zoom, Tascam, Sennheiser, Rode, etc.)

- Good understanding of sound levels, background noise management, and on-location audio challenges

- Strong technical and collaborative skills

- Film school background preferred

- Calm, focused, and detail-oriented under pressure
