Job Description: The cinematographer, often known as the director of photography (DP), is in charge of photographing the visual elements of a film or video production. They collaborate closely with the director and other key members of the crew to plan and execute scenarios, choose and arrange equipment, capture video, and edit the finished output. The cinematographer contributes both practical and artistic expertise to the film, ensuring that the desired visual aesthetic is realized. This position may need some travel outside of Bangalore for shoots. Roles and responsibilities: Provide practical and creative contribution to scene planning, partnering with the director and production crew to understand the aesthetic vision and objectives of the project. Select, assemble, and position equipment like cameras, stands, lenses, filters, and software, ensuring that it is in proper working order. Prepare cameras and test camera angles or movements to produce the desired visual effects and verify technical functionality. Shoot scenes in accordance with the needs and directions supplied, capturing high-quality footage from fixed or moving positions. Capture film that fits the project's artistic and technical requirements, taking into account aspects such as composition, lighting, exposure, and frame. Resolve technical or practical production concerns such as lighting challenges, camera breakdowns, or unanticipated changes in filming locations. Working with the post-production team to ensure the final product matches with the intended visual aesthetic, edit footage as needed. Travel outside of Bangalore for shoots on occasion, collaborating with the production team to gather video in other locales. Qualifications and skills: Extensive expertise and experience in cinematography, including camera operation, lighting techniques, composition, and editing. Working knowledge of a wide range of camera and lighting equipment, including digital cameras, lenses, filters, tripods, and editing software. Strong aesthetic and visual sensibility, with the ability to understand and interpret the director's concept and translate it into captivating visuals. Excellent technical abilities, including a deep understanding of exposure, color temperature, depth of field, and other technical aspects of cinematography. Ability to operate under pressure and fulfill tight deadlines while paying attention to detail and keeping high quality standards. Effective communication and collaboration abilities, as well as the ability to work as part of a team and communicate with people from all backgrounds and personalities. Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to deal with unexpected obstacles during production are required. A willingness to go outside of Bangalore on occasion for shots, as necessary by the production.
