Job Summary: The Deck Cadet is an entry-level trainee officer position, primarily responsible for undergoing structured shipboard training and gaining practical experience in navigation, deck operations, cargo management, and safety procedures on a large container vessel. This role is crucial for developing the foundational knowledge and skills required to become a competent Deck Officer. Duties and Responsibilities: Actively participate in bridge watchkeeping duties under the supervision of senior officers, learning about navigation, passage planning, and the use of navigational equipment (e.g., Radar, ECDIS, GPS). Assist in all aspects of cargo operations on a container ship, including loading, discharging, lashing, securing, and monitoring stowage conditions for large volumes of cargo. Contribute to the routine maintenance of the vessel's deck, hull, and superstructure, including chipping, painting, cleaning, and general upkeep. Participate in mooring and unmooring operations, handling ropes and wires safely and efficiently.
