About Urja Trust:

Urja Trust is a Mumbai-based nonprofit organisation working with young homeless women, especially survivors of gender-based violence. We provide long-term support including shelter, legal aid, education, mental health care, and financial independence training.

Key Responsibilities:

• Record day-to-day financial transactions (vouchers, receipts, payments)
• Generate basic financial reports for internal use
• Enter data into accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks)
• Maintain cash books, ledgers, and basic journals
• Organise physical and digital financial records for audits and reviews
• Visit banks for transactions; prepare monthly reconciliations to match book and bank records
• Assist with cheque preparation, deposit slips, and reconciliation
• Support internal and external audit documentation

Requirements:

• Qualification: B.Com, M.Com, or equivalent
• Experience: Freshers may apply; preference will be given to candidates with minimum 1 year of NGO sector accounting experience
• Proficiency in Tally/QuickBooks and understanding of basic statutory compliance
• Familiarity with FCRA, GST, TDS, and financial documentation is a plus
• Women from marginalised communities are strongly encouraged to apply
