What your background should look like: Job Overview As a Hardware Engineer for TE Connectivity you will focus on the electrical design, simulation, and verification-validation testing of high-speed products in cable assemblies targeting high speed communications and connectivity within datacenters and wireless infrastructure. You will be expected to independently work on projects in the areas of hardware design and validation for product, system design including modeling, simulation, testing and circuit board layout. You will work collaboratively within a broader cross functional team of mechanical, manufacturing, & operations to execute leading edge products designs.You will be the subject matter expert for the electrical performance of a product/platform beginning with the initial analysis through prototype fabrication & evaluation, and production verification testing. Key Duties And Responsibilities Develop high-quality software design and architecture. Develop tool by producing clean, efficient code. Lead complex projects involving multiple developers in one or more areas of the product. Identify, prioritize and execute tasks in the software development life cycle. Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting. Review and debug code to identify and fix code problems. Create unit, regression and/or system-level tests to thoroughly validate new features or changes. Collaborate with internal teams and customers to improve product offerings. Understand and demonstrate best practices in software engineering. Minimum Education/Certification Requirements And Experience B.E./B.Tech. degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or related field, with Five to Ten years of experience. Atleast three to five years of experience in EDA is must. Proficient with C/C++ development and strong working knowledge of Linux operating systems. Comprehensive understanding of object-oriented development techniques and theories. Experience with multi-threading and concurrency. Strong background in data structures, algorithms, and debugging Demonstrated technical leadership, and successful delivery of projects involving multiple engineers. Ability to learn quickly, understand complex systems and to work closely with others across multiple teams Ability to handle uncertainty, time pressure and large technical challenges. Ability to deliver high-quality work on time Strong communication skills with both internal team members and external customers. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills. Design, Analysis & Validation of High Voltage Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS)/Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS) Components, Sub-Assemblies, Assemblies Value engineering of existing designs using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures & product / program requirements. Support the Study and analysis of Project specifications & assessment of complexity and risks, carrying out Design. Perform calculations and FEM/FEA simulations based on GE’s design guidelines and software tools. Documentation of technical data to be consistent with engineering policies and procedures. Responsible for preparing design drawings/documents, ensuring error free and timely design delivery. Responsible for development of parts of the product designed aligning with cross functional teams and suppliers Responsible for preparing and conducting design verification and prepare data for design reviews with project team/ management. Responsible for managing the assembling of prototypes by the dedicated teams according to technical needs and schedule and also to manage the validation of design by dedicated teams through development and type tests with the available test facilities or external laboratories wherever needed. To create and release drawings/documentation for manufacturing and testing. Interact with Global R & D and competence centers on technical matters. Completes assigned work in a timely manner with appropriate level of effort, following applicable practices, methods, and standards. Handles multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritizes work appropriately. Document design records clearly and with appropriate details Required Qualifications Bachelor/ master’s degree in mechanical engineering. 4 to 8 years of experience in design of mechanical products and assemblies. Experience in design & development of HV/MV switchgear products is preferred. Proficiency in 3D CAD tools like ProE Creo Parametric, Unigraphics & FEM/FEA tools (Ansys/UG NX Motion). Experience on Microsoft office tools. Good oral/written communication skills in English. Good interpersonal skills, ability to engage and communicate effectively with cross functional & global team Desired Characteristics Proven analytical ability. Demonstrates outstanding technical knowledge and ownership of designs. Demonstrates clear product knowledge including operation/maintenance. Noted for accuracy/thoroughness of design/technical work reviews. Consistently translates engineering concepts to workable solutions. Continually expands technical skills and knowledge. Experience in mechanical simulation with Creo Simulate/ ANSYS would be an added advantage. Exposure to GD&T, GPS tolerancing, tolerance stack-up analysis etc. Exposure to manufacturing and assembly processes essential.
