1 The Geomechanics Specialist will provide basic modeling support across various disciplines and functions to enable safe operations reducing environmental risk, enhance field productivity ensure reserves, and safeguard the system integrity reliability. The position supports the construction, setup and execution of well and reservoir geomechanical models that are integral to upstream activities. The role brings together working subsurface knowledge and expertise in a growing technical area with significant impact and overlap with Shale and Tight, Carbon Sequestration, Deepwater and Heavy Oil assets. The role requires close collaboration with subject matter experts and chapter managers in Chevron Technical Center located in Houston to maintain workflow alignment. Key responsibilities: Conduct analyses to address geomechanical challenges such as: fracturing, fault reactivation, subsidence/compaction, PI decline, fractured injector performance, wellbore stability, sand production, induced seismicity, etc. Develop Finite Element reservoir and well scale meshes and provide quality assurance of meshes. Direct engineering experience for proposed and existing fixed and floating offshore structures for oil and gas production including concept development, pre-FEED, FEED and detailed design for construction, installation, and operation for a variety of projects. Expertise with integrity management of production and drilling facilities, platform modifications, risk mitigation. Analytical strengths in structural dynamics, finite element analysis, hydrodynamics, and nonlinear behavior. Awareness of naval architecture, mooring systems, and vessel motions. Analysis software experience with SESAM, SACS, USFOS, ANSYS, MOSES, and STAAD Pro. Preferred Qualifications: A minimum of 15 years of oil and gas industry experience related to offshore structures. Technical leadership to support project teams and collaborate across multidisciplinary functions to design, execute, and evaluate projects to minimize risk and achieve objectives.
