Senior Optometrist – Job Description

Qualifications & Experience:

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optometry.

Experience: Minimum 2–5 years of experience as an optometrist.

Position Overview:

A Senior Optometrist is responsible for providing high-quality eye care services, including vision testing, diagnosing eye conditions, and prescribing corrective lenses. They also mentor junior optometrists, ensure compliance with clinical protocols, and contribute to the overall success of the eye care department.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Clinical Duties:

Conduct comprehensive eye exams and vision tests.

Diagnose and manage ocular diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy.

Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids.

Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries.

Educate patients on eye health, preventive measures, and treatment options.

2. Supervisory & Training Responsibilities:

Mentor and train junior optometrists, interns, and support staff.

Ensure adherence to clinical protocols and best practices.

Conduct periodic training sessions to enhance team skills and knowledge.

4. Customer Service & Business Development:

Participate in community eye camps and awareness programs.

Skills:

Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making abilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Leadership and mentoring capabilities.

Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment like slit lamps, and OCT.
