Senior Database Engineer

As a highly skilled and experienced Database Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and optimizing complex data warehousing solutions to support data-driven initiatives within our organization. Leveraging your deep expertise in SQL Server and modern data warehousing technologies, you will lead a significant transformation by converting legacy SQL codebase into streamlined service-oriented data components. Your responsibilities will include creating efficient, scalable, and high-performing data architectures, enforcing development standards, and partnering with Customer Success to resolve data incidents and drive company-wide data modernization. In this senior, hands-on role, you will be expected to convert high-risk legacy stored procedures into service-ready modules with unit tests, establish and maintain a governed repository for all stored procedure code and documentation, collaborate closely with Customer Success to address Tier-1 data incidents, and provide mentorship on code review best practices. Your ability to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions and your comfort in navigating ambiguity will be essential in this fast-moving product environment. Your technical skills should include at least 8 years of experience in SQL Server database engineering, expertise in analyzing complex stored procedures and query optimization, hands-on experience in refactoring code for maintainability, and proficiency in writing unit, integration, and regression tests for database code. Additionally, familiarity with RESTful patterns, data-access layers for service-oriented architectures, and exposure to cloud SQL services such as Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or GCP Cloud SQL would be beneficial. On the soft skills front, you should possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills, excellent communication and collaboration abilities, rigorous documentation habits, and the capability to interface effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Your role will involve setting development standards, ensuring rigorous versioning and deployment practices, and driving the organization towards sustained operational excellence through resilient engineering solutions.
